How does Trilite MC-08 Cation resin soften water?

By placing resin beads into the ion exchange column and letting the water to be treated flow through the column, the cation beads will remove calcium and magnesium in the water. As water flows through the column, cations in the resin will bond with Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions and trap them in the column, releasing Na+ into the water. This is a method that can remove magnesium and calcium from water, making it "softer".
After a period of operation, the cation beads must be reconstituted with NaCl reconstituted salt solution. There should be a barrel of salt and pure salt pellets ready in the system.
