    The leather tanning industry, also known as the footwear industry, is a long-standing manufacturing industry in the world. The main raw materials used for the footwear industry are animal leather such as cowhide, rabbit leather, sheepskin, and pigskin. The production process's purpose is to change animal skin so that it is durable, does not wrinkle, rot...

    Almost all production stages of the leather and footwear industry generate wastewater. The composition of wastewater from the leather shoe industry includes:

    Domestic wastewater has high levels of organic matter, nitrates, phosphates and bacteria.
    Wastewater from the leather and footwear industry has very high concentrations of TSS, COD, BOD, SS, alkalinity and color, exceeding the standards. If not treated, it will affect the water environment and aquatic animals, as well as the health of people living around.

    - Collection tank

    - Clarifier

    The settled sludge is periodically pumped to the sludge tank, dried, packaged, and taken for treatment. The water in the settling tank is allowed to overflow through the intermediate tank.

    - Aerobic biological tank

    The clear water after settling is led through the aerobic biological tank Aerotank, aerobic microorganisms decompose organic matter in wastewater into simple inorganic substances, fully supplied with oxygen.

    - Biological sedimentation tank

    Wastewater is led through the sedimentation tank to deposit the biological sludge to the bottom of the tank. A part of the settled sludge is led to the sludge tank, and a part is circulated for biological treatment to ensure the density of microorganisms in the tank.

    - Pressure filtration equipment

    The clear water after settling is passed through a pressure filter to remove remaining residue and deodorize.

    - Disinfection tank

    Wastewater is led through the disinfection tank as the final step to destroy remaining pathogenic microorganisms. The treated wastewater meets QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT standards.
